The Artists Bio

I can't remember a time when I didn't have the desire to draw or paint. As a self-taught artist, I started developing my craft at age 9 when I did my first oil painting of my 2- year old sister, Cathy. I especially love depicting children with animals. I also enjoy drawing Western themes. I guess it's because I'm a native Houstonian and I love Texas!

Although I work from photos, I feel that I am able to capture the spirit and personality of my subjects. I am a member of the American Society of Portrait artists (ASOPA). My achievements include numerous awards, two purchase awards and an inclusion in The Illustrator Magazine.

My portraits are done primarily in pencil, my favorite medium, as I am able to develop more precise details and sharpness unattainable through other mediums.
